Relaxed Roman Shades

Relaxed Roman shades are the ideal choice for creating a cozy, relaxed aesthetic in bedrooms, reading nooks, and informal sitting areas.

Our relaxed roman shades, also sometimes referred to as solf fold roman shades, only have one dowel and it is across the very bottom of the shade. Instead of dowels and pockets across the backside, like our classic roman shades have, the relaxed roman shades have rings sewn to the back of the shade and the cording runs up the back underneath those rings. They are stitched to the front of the shade. The standard stack height is usually between 15-20” but it also depends on the size of window and fabric used. They come in blackout, regular liner and thermal. The relaxed shades can also be made with no liner, allowing for an airy look with a lot of light to shine through. When the shade is in the down position, the shade fabric is flat. When the shade is raised, the folds form but the folds are much more relaxed that classic shades. Sometimes relaxed shades need manual adjustment of the folds to make them look a little neater. Relaxed shades are best in rooms that won’t be needing the shade to raise and lower often, due to the dressing of the folds. Relaxed shades only come in corded or continuous cord and cannot be made in cordless. Sometimes to have the lay flatter on the top, so that the sides don’t cave in, you need to lower the shade slightly until the sides are nice and flat.
