Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, They’re fully functional! I do make stationary/faux shades, as well!

Corded shades function by pulling on 3 white cords along the side/back. They’re not visible when the shade is down. When the shade is UP, the cords are visible on the back/side but can be easily hidden if you tuck them into one of the folds, so they don’t hang, or they can but neated up on a cord cleat on the wall.

Continuous cord shades operate by pulling on a beaded chain on the back side of the shade.

Cordless shades operate by pulling on a white knob pull on the lower back of the shade.

  • You may fill out the quote form, https://www.sewlovelybykelly.com/customromanshades, on the custom roman shades page or email us at sewlovelybykelly@gmail.com. I will need as much info as possible on that form to provide a quote. You will be provided a quote via email soon after.

  • No, we do not do those styles at the moment

  • No, we only go to about 78” at max in width (left to right/side to side) for our shades. We can do any length shade.

  • Only spot wash. No machine wash bc there are dowels inside the shade and the shade is attached to the top wood.

  • Yes, when measuring your window, you’d measure the exact width and then subtract about 1/4” off the width and that’s the number to give me for the measurement. We do not do any subtractions from what you give us. Provide us with the size shade you’d like (exact size of your window with the 1/4” dedicated. the ¼ doesn’t have to be exact but it should be slightly less than your exact window opening, around 1/4

  • A lot of this is personal preference, but if you’re mounting on the wall itself, it has to be at least 4 inches above the trim piece so the hardware clears the trim, and then down to your window sill. You can also mount right on the trim itself and down to the window sill. For width, you can measure the edge of the trim, side to side, or you can extend it past the trim on the wall, or you can measure side to side any place on the trim. For more information see our measuring page.

  • If you’re doing corded shades, it does it provides a bit more than the inside mount corded option and also cordless and chain operated shades. The corded outside mount is a very small projection, at only 3/4” deep. All blackout shades will provide nice blackout coverage but corded outside mount might be the very best option.

  • Yes! The shades normally mount easily using just 2 screws! No brackets are required normally. We supply the screws and instructions can be found on our website, here- https://www.sewlovelybykelly.com/installation.‍ ‍If you are doing outside mount cordless shades or continuous cord, you may require additional L brackets that are not supplied. If you’d like us to supply those we can for an additional low cost.

  • That depends on the type of fabric and length of your window, but it’s usually about 15” or less for a standard window. If the window is very short, the drop might be much smaller.

  • About 1 1/2” . If you have only 1” it will work also, but the shade will project a little more.

  • Yes! You can have the fabric shipped directly to us. Please be sure to put your name on the shipping label under ours to prevent any delays and so we know the fabric is yours. Use the same name you used when emailing or placing the order (not a client’s name or company name).

  • No, we do not. But if an item is damaged or the sizing is wrong, we can almost always fix the error easily. If the sizing or damage is due to our mistake, we can fix it free of charge. If the sizing is due to a customer’s mistake, we can still adjust the shade and there will be a cost to do so.
